Located 35 miles from New Orleans, the Pearl River Wildlife Management Area (WMA) safeguards a vast timber swamp ecosystem. Independent visitors drive in via I-10 East to reach the public boat launches and gravel access roads.

You need a valid Louisiana WMA access permit or a hunting and fishing license to enter the area on your own. You must also complete a self-clearing permit upon arrival. Guided boat tours usually cover these access requirements in the ticket price.
